A MAN appeared in court after a woman was shot in the chest with an air rifle.
David Archer faces charges of wounding and possessing a firearm in connection with the incident earlier this month.
The 24-year-old woman was injured in a domestic dispute in Moncrieff Terrace, Easington Colliery.
No charges were put to Archer during the short preliminary hearing at Durham Crown Court.
Judge Robert Adams ordered a plea hearing to take place on December 2.
The judge set a provisional trial date of February 24 next year.
Archer, 26, was bailed on condition he lives at an address in Balliol Close, Peterlee.
