A GREEN-FINGERED campaign to beat criminals is being launched by crimefighters.
A series of events have been lined up by Hartlepool Crime Prevention Panel at Stranton Nursery, in the town’s Tanfield Road.
The Plants Against Crime initiative sees free advice given out to householders about how they can protect their property using thorny and bushy shrubs.
Information is also provided about locks and items such as plastic spikes that can be put on the top of fences to deter thieves from entering their gardens.
Discounted products designed to make homes safer will also be on sale at the events.
The first session is taking place from 11am-noon on Wednesday, July 4.
Meetings are then lined up for the same time on August 8, September 5, October 3, November 7 and December 5.
Colin Hopkins and PC Steve Davies, both from the panel, will be at the events.
For more information ring PC Davies on (01642) 302579.
