PETERLEE-based TV star Crissy Rock is poised to give her charity a much-needed boost this evening when she appears on a popular quiz show.
Crissy, who starred in ITV’s Benidorm and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, will star alongside four celebrities on Celebrity Mastermind Christmas Special on BBC1 tonight.
Host John Humphreys invites four famous faces to answer questions on their chosen subjects. Author Val McDermid, Paralympian Hannah Cockroft, broadcaster Lizo Mzimba and Crissy show what they know about the life of Christopher Marlowe, McFly, the George Smiley novels of John le Carre and the life and works of Toulouse-Lautrec.
Crissy will tell the show that the French painter Toulose-Lautrec inspired her to read and write. Until she discovered the paintings of the artist she had been illiterate.
She said: “His work just blew me away, and I had to start to learn to read and write if I wanted to discover more about his brilliant work.
“It became a case of now or never for me, and I’m so pleased I made a start.”
The funnygirl will again be raising cash for her chosen charity Families Fighting For Justice.
FFFJ offers guidance and advice to people whose family members have been victims of a murder or manslaughter.
Crissy added: “I have worked with FFFJ for a while now. The work they do is absolutely magnificent and much needed.
“They help people and families who are left in the dark and become lost, isolated and confused through losing a loved one.
“I have been one of the lucky ones, my TV, film, book and live stage work have been great for me, the charity work allows me to give something back to people who need a helping hand.”
Celebrity Mastermind is screened at 7pm on BBC1 this evening.
