A REVELLER had to be wrestled to the floor and CS sprayed after confronting police officers.
Police spotted Anthony Paul Cartin and a pal running from a kebab shop in Church Street, Hartlepool, throwing their arms in the air and “squaring up” to two other drinkers, justices were told.
Prosecuting, Joanne Hesse told Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court that police spoke to the 23-year-old defendant and then arrested his friend for being abusive.
Mrs Hesse said: “This defendant then ran over to see what was going on and had to be physically restrained to the ground and CS spray was used.
“He was then arrested.”
Cartin represented himself when he appeared before the bench and pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on May 13.
When asked if he would like to explain what happened he said: “I was out and I’d been in Shades nightclub and went into a food shop.
“We were waiting to get a taxi and four lads started getting chewy and we had a bit of an altercation with them.”
Cartin, of Brenda Road, Hartlepool, was fined £30, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
