RESIDENTS had the chance to enjoy a cuppa and find out more about upcoming events at a community centre.

The recently formed Friends of West View Community Centre organised a coffee morning to raise awareness of activities and events held at the facility, in Miers Avenue.

As well as enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and a snack, residents took the opportunity to chat to members of the group and find out more about their work.

Carol Jones, community development worker for the West View Project and also a member of the group, said: “We organised the coffee morning so residents could come in for a chat but also to give them the opportunity to find out more about everything that goes on here in the centre.

“We have a wide variety of activities, events and services here and the group was formed to raise awareness of all of those things, so people know what they can get from the centre and the activities they can enjoy.

“The coffee morning was also a chance for people to meet new people and make new friends.”

Carol added: “It was nice to welcome residents into the centre and chat with them about the group and the types of things we offer here.

“What the group now intends to do is organise a coffee morning on the last Friday of every month which would be great.”
