RESIDENTS brewed up a £400 charity donation by taking part in a coffee morning.

Those living in sheltered housing in Heriot Grange, in Heriot Grove, Hartlepool, drank tea and coffee and took part in tombolas and a bric-a-brac sale for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The charity is running a campaign this month under the slogan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to encourage people to hold lots of small parties in aid of its work.

Chris Haran, scheme manager at the Anchor-run site, said: “It was a busy morning but it has been worth it as we raised £400.

“Lots of the residents took part and we had people come from a local nursing home as well. It was a good community get-together.”
