Cut village crime

ELWICK residents are reminded of a Farm Watch meeting next week.

Police officers, Police Community Support Officers and crime advisors will be on hand at the Spotted Cow pub, in the village, next Monday, March 19.

Cleveland Police say everyone is welcome at the meeting, whether you have a farm, smallholding, cottage or just want to take part.

PC Keith Robinson, PC Claire Elliott and Police Community Safety Officer (PCSO) Cath Jones will be joined by crime prevention advisors PC Steve Davies and Colin Hopkins, who will all give advice on how to keep equipment and outhouses secure.

PC Davies said: We have recently seen increases in criminal activity at farm locations on the outskirts of town which have included machinery, motorised bikes, valuable metal and animals targeted.

“This meeting has been arranged to promote Farm Watch and to give advice on what security measures can be taken to help stop crime.

“We will be giving advice including accessibility to properties, boundary treatments, use of alarms/CCTV, lighting, security of outbuildings and property marking.”
