A LIFESAVER dad rubbed shoulders with sports stars and celebrities when he was invited onto TV to talk about first aid.
Andy Cave, from Hartlepool, who is nominated for a St John Ambulance award for saving his three-year-old daughter from choking, appeared on ITV1’s Alan Titchmarsh Show on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old got to meet Great Britain’s men’s curling team who have just returned from the winter Olympics, in Russia, with a silver medal.
He also met fashion designer Mylene Klass, comedian Ed Byrne and DJ Simon Mayo, who were also guests on the live show.
Andy, of Tristram Avenue, also dad to Jake, 11, and stepchildren Leona, 11, and Sophie, eight, was whisked down to London to feature in a part of the show on the importance of first aid.
He told the presenter how he used newly-learned skills to safely dislodge a small coin his daughter Keerah swallowed while playing at home.
Andy’s quick-thinking actions, as reported at the time by the Mail, have earned him a nomination for St John Ambulance’s Everyday Hero Award.
The final takes place on March 26.
Andy, a football coach for Greatham Under 12s, and who is engaged to Emma Picton, 31, said: “It was a good experience.
“I got to meet two other people who are nominated for the same award as me and also the Great Britain Curling Team and I talked to Mylene Klass.
“Frank Bruno was also there but I just missed him because the car came to pick me up.
“ I was gutted,” he added.
