A “DANGEROUS” criminal who assaulted and robbed an elderly woman in her own home has been jailed for 13 years.

Anthony Edward Wahab, 43, who has carried out two similar attacks on lone pensioners in the past, bound and gagged the 78-year-old widow and threatened to cut off her beloved pet dog’s ears.

Teesside Crown Court heard Wahab, of Rydal Street, Hartlepool deliberately targeted the vulnerable victim on January 26 after taking a cocktail of drugs.

The victim was left so traumatised she has had to move out of her home of more than 50 years.

Sentencing Wahab, who admitted robbery, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton said: “This was as bad a case of robbery as many can envisage bearing in mind the nature of the complainant.

“I consider that you are a dangerous individual.”
