KIND-hearted Emma Liddle is planning on treating her dad with a Christmas present to help cheer him up after he was attacked on holiday.
Emma, seven, was on holiday in Benidorm with her mum Diane and dad Ronnie in the summer when he was pounced on by a robber as the family walked back to their hotel.
Ronnie suffered a badly broken arm in the struggle, and despite treatment he has been unable to go back to work at Hartlepool’s TMD Frictions plant since his holiday horror.
Emma, a pupil at Eldon Grove, sent a letter into the Mail’s Dear Santa competition in the hope of cheering her dad up after a miserable few months.
Her letter said: “My dad was robbed on holiday in Spain and has been left with a poorly arm.
“He can’t do the job he used to do so, if I win your competition, I would share the presents with him.
“That would make him smile again.
“I love my dad, me.”
Emma’s mum Diane, who also works at TMD Frictions, was delighted to hear that the youngster had won the top prize of a £100 Asda gift voucher.
She said: “We’re over the moon to win.
“We have had a tough second half of the year after what happened in Benidorm.
“Ronnie hasn’t been able to work since, it’s been a real struggle for all of us.
“Emma was with us at the time he was robbed, somebody jumped on him trying to pull a gold chain off his neck.
“She was in a right state, she had to help me pick him up off the floor after he had been attacked.
“She saw the competition in the Mail and said she would try and win it to help cheer him up.”
The family live in Flaxton Court, off Elwick Road.
