A barking mad fundraiser returns this summer with organisers hoping to make the event their biggest and best yet.
The sixth annual Dogs Big Day Out will be held next month to raise money for Hartlepoool & District Hospice.
It will be held on Sunday, June 28, from 10am to 4pm and takes place at the Summerhill Country Park in the town.
Hospice officials say the popular event usually raises around £3,000 each year for patient care. Staff at the hospice are inviting dog owners across the town to register to join in a wide selection of activities.
They include a sponsored dog walk, agility competitions, doggy tombola and pug races.
There will also be a meet the breeds’ parade which all dogs can take part in, including the Designer Breeds class.
Dog training and behaviour expert Cath Measor will be at the event and Pugility - a pug agility display team as seen on Britain’s Got Talent - will be performing on the day.
All dogs that take part in Dogs Big Day out will receive a doggy bag and a souvenir rosette.
A prize and award will also be handed out to the top dog which raises the most sponsorship cash.
The Dogs Bid Gay Out has been sponsored by Paw Pals and Hartlepool Marina and organised in association with Pugility and Canine Couture.
Janice Forbes, the hospice’s community fundraiser, said: “This is always a great event and with the continued support we have received from Pugility, Canine Couture, Paw Pals and Hartlepool Marina, we are hoping this year will be the biggest and best yet.
“There is a full day of fun for dogs and owners alike, with a range of enjoyable activities and lots of prizes to be won.
“So come on all you dog owners and treat your four-legged pals to a brilliant day out, and help a vital local charity at the same time.”
Registration for the event costs £5.
