“A TRUE asset to the community” – meet Dr Gordon Dougal.
The popular and caring GP is the latest medical professional to be nominated in the Hartlepool Mail Best of Health Awards 2011.
The Mail has joined forces with NHS Hartlepool and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust to launch the Best of Health Awards 2011 which will culminate in a black-tie summer presentation evening at Hardwick Hall Hotel, in Sedgefield, in June.
We want to publicly honour the town’s marvellous medical staff for their dedication, devotion, care, compassion and professionalism and highlight the unsung heroes working in Hartlepool’s health sector.
The awards will honour health professionals at all levels including doctors, nurses, GP and dental practices, opticians, hospital teams, community workers, carers and those with long service.
Dr Dougal works at the Fens Medical Centre, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool and is respected by staff and patients alike.
The nomination form for him read: “Dr Dougal is a kind, generous and exceptional GP. He never thinks that any patient is wasting his time.
“He takes his time to listen to patients, assess their conditions and talks to them without the GP/patient barrier that most GPs use.
“He goes out of his way to speak to patients about their problems and never fails to please patients.
“Dr Dougal is a true asset to the community and is respected by staff and patients alike.”
Nominations can be made by the public, patients or colleagues but they must be with us by the closing date of Sunday, May 15.
Forms can be cut out of the Mail and sent to us or can be downloaded at www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk
There are 12 categories covering every aspect of health care.
Nomination forms, like the one printed here today, will be made available in hospital and GP practice reception areas.
