A COMMUNITY champion has added to his list of accolades after receiving two awards for his support of Neighbourhood Watch.
Horden parish councillor Billy Hill was chosen as a finalist in two prestigious categories in the first awards of their kind.
The inaugural National Neighbourhood and Home Watch Awards took place to celebrate the best community crime fighters across England and Wales.
They coincided with National Neighbourhood and Home Watch Week which is running this week.
Billy, 67, was named as a regional finalist in the awards’ Community Engagement and Safer Neighbourhood categories after being nominated by local police.
He said: “It is very nice to be recognised for all the hard work I have done.
“Despite three strokes it doesn’t hold me back from doing my community work and I am still very active.”
Billy works closely with elderly residents and police on crime prevention in Horden.
