A HOUSING provider has boosted a cancer cause by raising thousands of pounds.

East Durham Homes (EDH) raised £5,628 for Cancer Research UK after staff arranged events including dress-down days, sponsored cycle rides and runs, tombolas, raffles, cake sales and quizzes.

EDH chairman Paul Morgan chose the cause as many staff, families and friends have been affected by cancer, including much loved and valued colleague Joanne Lormor, who passed away in February after battling cancer.

EDH are supporting the Newcastle Cancer Centre at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research, which is the local cancer research centre.

Mr Morgan said: “I would like to personally thank everyone who has been involved in fundraising events this year for this very worthwhile cause.”
