A GROUP of apprentices provided a well earned day of R&R for some hard-working soldiers.
Five soldiers, from Ripon-based 21 Engineer Regiment, were treated to a pamper day at East Durham College, in Peterlee, as part of the college’s activities during this week’s National Apprenticeship Week.
They were all treated to a three-course meal at the college’s restaurant, Scene1, that was prepared and cooked by catering apprentices, before a group of apprentices then treated them to a number of hair and beauty treatments.
To finish off the day, the college’s fully trained physiotherapists gave the solders a professional sports massage.
The soldiers described the day as “absolutely fabulous” and thanked the college and the apprentices for their generosity and hard work.
Peterlee student Ellen Dobie, 17, is currently doing a hairdressing apprenticeship with Seraph Hair & Beauty based in Peterlee’s Castle Dene Shopping Centre, said: “It was really interesting to chat with the soldiers and find out the different jobs they do in the Army. It was a privilege to help out giving them some treatments.”
National Apprenticeship Week, now in its firth year, is taking place across England this week.
