Hair and barbering students at East Durham College have been treated to a masterclass from internationally renowned barber, Simon Shaw.

Over 80 students and members of staff attended the three-hour workshop at the Peterlee campus to see Simon showcase his skills.

Simon is the European Artistic Director for Wahl UK and is recognised as a British Grand Master Barber.

College lecturer and British Master Barber Alison Scattergood said: “It was a huge honour to have such a high-profile guest and legendary barber as Simon come in and put on this masterclass for the students.

“Simon has won a number of awards and is recognised worldwide for his work, so it really was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students to be able to see him at work and learn the techniques he uses.

“We can’t thank Simon enough for coming along to the college.”

Simon is known for his innovative approach to hairdressing and education.

He has shared his experience all over the UK and abroad, travelling across Europe and America to interact with audiences.

He was also the first British hairdresser to undertake a successful tour of Saudi Arabia.
