The newly amalgamated Bluebell Meadow Primary School in Trimdon Grange came second in their league and will now move up a level.

The league is based in Sedgefield and organised by the Sedgefield Sports Partnership.

There were 10 teams and the boys won six of their games and drew the other three, which means they will be playing in a higher league in the next campaign.

The teams are being split into two leagues and Bluebell’s runners-up place means they will be in the Premiership League.

Headteacher Catherine Worton said: “We are delighted that Bluebell Meadow football team performed brilliantly in the Sedgefield Sports Partnership Primary Tournament and were placed second out of 10, missing out on the top spot by a narrow margin.

“This is especially pleasing as we are a newly formed school. Thanks to the Martin Gray Academy for sponsoring our fabulous new kit.

PE/sports co-ordinator Colette Serrechia added: “We are extremely proud of our boys’ achievement in this particular area of learning, and for representing our school so well in the recent Sedgefield Sports Partnership Football League.

“The boys have trained exceptionally hard under PE apprentice Mr S Mearman and we wish them every success in the upcoming Premiership League.”
