The event was for students in Years 9 to 14.

On the day they were given the opportunity to meet with potential employers and course providers to gain information and insight in to what is on offer to support them in their steps towards their vocational future.

There was a wide range of employers and training providers in attendance, and these included Hartlepool FE, National Citizenship Service, Total Training, Skills Academy, Pro-active Solutions, Learning Curve, Ashbank Laundry, Steron Locksmiths and Macdonalds, to name a few.

Jackie McGarry, careers and work experience co-ordinator at the academy, said: “This was a great opportunity for our students to meet with training providers and employers to find out what is really expected of them. We were so grateful to employers for getting on-board.”

Headteacher Alan Chapman was also in attendance to support the event and meet with the employers and training providers.

And the day proved to be even more successful than last year’s.

A spokesperson for the academy said students were buzzing with talk of what direction they can take in the future, and it generated lots of conversations about what they can do and where they can go once they are ready to move out into the world of work and training.”
