FOUR days of fantastic team building are beckoning for a group of Hartlepool teenagers.
A recruitment campaign has begun to find the 16 and 17 year olds who will take part in the National Citizen Service scheme later this month. Successful applicants will get to travel to Winmarleigh Hall which is a spectacular Victorian estate near Preston.
The activity centre will be the base for fun activities such as abseiling, archery and raft building.
The National Citizen Service is a national campaign in which young adults can increase their confidence and their CV, experience something new, and graduate with a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.
Organisers have hailed it as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that helps you build your skills for work and life, while you take on new challenges and meet new friends.”
Keith Nobbs is the manager of the Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation, the scheme’s delivery partner which has been recruiting for the programme this week at the Hartlepool Sixth Form College.
He said: “We shall be taking 15 down to Winmarleigh Hall and we have been recruiting for that. We will be doing the same at the college on Thursday.
“The aim of this is for the recruits to learn new skills and develop new interests. They will get to meet new people as well.
“It is a personal development programme where people get to step out of their comfort zone when they get down there.”
