STUDENTS were honoured for their hard work at a glittering annual ceremony held at a town school.

English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool, hosted its third annual ‘Oscars’ event earlier this week.

More than 50 students picked up awards for their creativity in a wide range of subjects.

The Mail’s photographer Frank Reid was guest of honour at the event, and handed out trophies to the successful students.

Martyrs headteacher Michael Lee said: “The Oscars Evening was a great occasion in which we celebrated the creative talents of our brilliant students.

“Subjects such as ICT, Food, Textiles, Ceramics and Photography provide a rich curriculum for our students and can open the door to various careers.
