PARENTS of youngsters set to start primary school in Hartlepool next September are being urged to apply for places now.
Applications can be made online at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/schooladmissionsonline or by completing a paper application form which can be obtained from any primary school or from the council’s School Admissions Team.
The current applications round is for children born between September 1, 2010, and August 31, 2011.
Janet Dennis, Hartlepool Council’s School Admissions Officer (Primary), said: “All parents must apply for places for their children in a primary school in Hartlepool.
“They do receive a letter via their child’s nursery school but if a child does not attend a private or mainstream nursery they need to be registered with the School Admissions Team.
“It is important to stress, however, that attendance at a nursery school does not guarantee a place in a school as this does not form part of the admission criteria of any Hartlepool primary school.”

The on-line application system opened yesterday and paper application forms are also now available.
The closing date for the return of both online and paper applications is January 15.
National offer day takes place on April 16.
Parents who applied online will be able to view their child’s allocation on the council’s website.
Notification letters will also be sent to all parents and carers.
Appeals will then be heard in June and July.
