PLANS are underway for a reunion to mark a year- group’s 30th anniversary of leaving school.

Angela Malone (nee Norman) is organising a reunion for Henry Smith School’s Class of 1984.

It will take place at Hartlepool Rovers Quoit Club, formerly the Iona, in Easington Road, Hartlepool, from 7pm on Saturday, July 5, and will feature an 80s disco and memorabilia, buffet and tuck shop.

Angela plans to use proceeds from the night to go towards a dementia or a kidney dialysis charity.

At school, Angela, 45, who is married to Jim and has an son called Jake, 11, hung around with Andrea Todd (nee Bell), who is helping to organise the reunion, Angela Fletcher, nee Grigg and Susan Boagey, who Angela is trying to trace.

Angela, who works with people with learning difficulties, said: “I was at work last year and thought ‘it’s 2014 next year and it’s 30 years since we left school’.

“I texted Andrea and said ‘what do you think about organising a reunion?’ and she said it was a fantastic idea.”

Angela said former classmates hope to travel from far and wide for the gathering, including Susan Maunder, now based in Tewkesbury, Paul Oliver, who works for Thames Valley Police, Angela Fletcher, who lives in Bristol and Sharon Horner, based in Coventry.

The event is also open to teachers and Angela has been speaking to her former teacher Mrs Clark about getting members of staff along.

Tickets for the event are £5. Call Angela on 07849057397 or see the Year of 1984 henry smiths reunion 30 years Facebook page for more details.
