A BAND has sung up for its school as it took a tour.

St Bede’s Catholic School in Peterlee took 12 students around a number of its feeder schools across East Durham to champion the work of its music and performing art departments.

The newly formed wind and brass ensembles, made up of children from Years 7 to 13, visited Our Lady Star of the Sea in Horden, Our Lady of the Rosary in Peterlee, St Joseph’s in Murton, and St Mary Magdalen’s in Seaham, .

They performed Christmas songs and carols, with the younger pupils joining in with a sing along.

Andrew Robinson, head of music, said: “We’ve had some very positive feedback from the schools saying they enjoyed it and asking if we would go back next term. Hopefully this will be the first trip out of many.”

He added the feeder schools, 12 in total across the Easington area, will be invited to a performance of Annie which will be staged next year
