YOUNGSTERS enjoyed a magical morning of reading as they got their first chance to have a look at the Wonderful World of Knowledge collection.

The Year 6 pupils at Fens Primary School, in Mowbray Road, Hartlepool, were one of the first lucky groups in the town to cast their eye over a few of the titles which make up the 24-book Disney series.

As well as reading the Dinosaurs book, the first in the series which is available absolutely free with your Mail next Tuesday, March 15, the children got the chance to look through others including Marvels of Science, Birds and Sport.

I had a chat with the pupils to find out their thoughts on the Disney collection.

LOUIS RONKSLEY, 10, said: “The books are very factual.

“When I first saw them I thought they would be a bit childish for children my age. But then when I had chance to have a look through I realised the facts inside were very interesting.

“I think they would be good for children of all ages.”

EMILY ATTWOOD, 11, was also impressed with what she saw.

Emily said: “I really enjoyed having a look through the books.

“I spent quite a lot of time looking through the Marvels of Science book.

“There are a lot of facts but the pictures are really appealing aswell.”

KATIE WILSON, 10, said: “I really like plants and in particular daffodils so I was over the moon when I got chance to have a look through the Plants Are Amazing book.

“The books tells you about all sorts of different plants.

“I think it would be brilliant for younger children but I really enjoyed reading through it aswell.”

RACHEL BLAKEY, 11, said: “The Disney characters in the book are brilliant.

“As soon as I saw the front cover I thought I would like the book.

“Reading is one of my favourite hobbies so I enjoyed getting the chance to look through these books.

“They are very factual.”

FFION LANIGAN, 10, had a look through the Dinosaurs book, the very first book in the series,

Ffion said: “I liked all the interesting facts in the book.

“I do a lot of reading at home but I normally read fiction books.

“So it was a nice change to have a look through a factual book.

“The collection looks really good.”

LUCY HALL, 10, said: “I was looking at the Sports book.

“I do quite a lot of sport and I do lots of gymnastics.

“I enjoyed reading the book because it includes sports which I already know about but it also includes sports such as American Football which I don’t really know anything about.

“The Disney characters are very good as well.”
