HUNDREDS of students enjoyed their big night at their school proms.

Umbrellas turned into the most important fashion item of the night as the boys and girls at St Bede’s Catholic Comprehensive School and Easington Community Science College did their best to stay dry and enjoy their prom.

But once inside, the girls, dressed in stunning frocks, and the boys, looking dressed to impress in their suits made the most of the night they had been waiting for.

Shotton Hall was the venue for the students at St Bede’s.

As usual, the teenagers turned up in an array of impressive vehicles, including one group of students deciding to arrive in a classic coach.

Proud parents watched on and took the opportunity to get photographs.

Meanwhile there was similar scenes at Lumley Castle, in Chester-le-Street, as the Easington students enjoyed their prom.

As the students from E ast Durham look back on their big night last night, tonight it’s the turn of those at St Hild’s C of E School.

The prom season is now in full swing and the Mail and Peterlee Star will be covering every Year 11 prom night.
