Rossmere pupils excited about the Olympics

PUPILS at Rossmere Primary School, in Catcote Road, Hartlepool, are excited about the start of this year’s Olympic Games.

Chandler Wilson, 11, said: “It’s fantastic that the Olympics are coming to London.

“We are doing a project in the classroom and we also have to design a dance in PE which could be used in the opening ceremony.

“I am most looking forward to watching the gymnastics, I love gymnastics.”

Rhiannon Colling, 10, is looking forward to watching the athletics.

She said: “I love watching the races, especially the 100 metres.

“I think it’s brilliant for the country to host the Olympics because so many people will be watching from all over the world.

“It is especially exciting because I will get to watch sports I don’t know a lot about.”

Conor Byrne, 10, said: “I think it’s brilliant for London to hold the Olympics because the games haven’t been held here for so long.

“I will try to watch as much of it as I can.

“I can’t wait to watch Usain Bolt, he is my favourite athlete.”

Spencer White, 10, will have his eyes on a number of sports and events at the games.

He said: “I like the track and field, especially the pole vault, and I like watching the football as well.

“I think the opening ceremony will be brilliant.

“I’m really looking forward to it now.”

Millie Pickering, 11, said: “It’s brilliant that the Olympics are coming to London.

“I’m looking forward to watching it on the television, I think everyone will be interested.

“I think watching the swimming will be the best, I like swimming and I do it myself so it will be good to watch the best swimmers in the world.”

Leo Auton, 10, said: “I really like the fencing so it will be good to watch that at the Olympics.

“It’s brillaint to have the very best athletes in the world coming to London.

“What I’m looking forward to the most is watching sports we don’t normally get to see on the television.

“I might find out some more about different sports.”
