THE hardworking students at English Martyrs RC School and Sixth Form College are celebrating record results.
Delighted staff congratulated the record-breaking teenagers as 83 per cent of the school’s students achieved five A*-C grades including English and maths.
The result was a massive 11 per cent increase on the school’s previous record, set in 2011, and was beyond the wildest expectations of headteacher Michael Lee.
Among the record achievers celebrating the results was Elizabeth Dunn, who scored an amazing 12 A*s grades.
A group of other hard workers achieved as many as 10 A* grades.
Overjoyed Mr Lee told the Mail: “We always knew that this group of students were capable of achieving something special.
“We were targeting 76 per cent, 78 or 79 per would have been fantastic, I didn’t even think about over 80 per cent, it’s an amazing achievement.
“The results are beyond our expectations and they reflect the hard work put in by our students and members of staff.”
Every single Year 11 student achieved at least five A*-G grades including English and maths, another school record.
Delighted Elizabeth, 16, from the Fens, who wants to go on to become a physics teacher, said: “I’m just over the moon.
“I worked so hard but I was still nervous beforehand.”
Paul Moore, 16, from Seaton Carew, was another top performer achieving 10 A* grades.
He said: “I was hoping for seven A*s, when I opened my results I was just shocked and ecstatic.”
Nudrat Ahmad, Caitlin Goddard, Hollie Linighan and Nikita Nighoskar, all 16, were all celebrating 10 A* grades.
