Children from reception right through to the eldest pupils in the school took part, along with head teacher Nicola Dunn, who stepped in to help at one point during the sack race.

The event was held on the school’s field, off Egerton Terrace, in Greatham Village, with dozens of parents, grandparents and carers turning up to watch and cheer on their mini athletes.

At the end of the sporting afternoon, the children were each treated to an ice-cream or ice lolly as a much deserved reward.
