Egg comp to help rescuers

A STORE is encouraging shoppers to do their bit to help a life-saving charity this Easter.

The Wilkinson store, in Peterlee, is inviting budding designers to enter their homemade egg creations into an Easter egg decorating competition at the store, by donating to the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA).

Easter egg hampers are on offer as top-place prizes.

A used book sale will be in store from Monday, April 8, with all proceeds going to the GNAA, while children will be kept entertained with an in-store colouring competition from Tuesday, April 9, until Saturday, April 13.

Store manager Sharon Short said she is hopeful of getting a lot of support from customers.

She said: “I’m very proud of my team as everyone is incredibly enthusiastic about fundraising for the GNAA and we hope our wide variety of activities help to raise an impressive amount.

“We would love our loyal customers to come along and join in the fun, as it promises to be a fun-packed few weeks for everyone.”

Mandy Drake, GNAA’s head of fundraising, said: “We are very grateful to the Peterlee store for once again getting behind our charity.

“Any money raised will go a long way in keeping our service flying for people in our local area.”
