FUNERAL directors have helped spread some Easter cheer by donating chocolate eggs to disadvantaged children.

Mason and Gerald Martin Funeral Service, in Park Road, Hartlepool, presented eggs to Natale O’Connor from women’s refuge Harbour after appealing for donations in the Mail.

The Park Road-based firm collects dozens of the seasonal sweets every year to give to needy children across the region.

In total 60 eggs have been distributed to Harbour, the Butterwick Hospice, in Stockton, and the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group.

Funeral arranger Julia Masshedar said: “It means a lot to the children and it is nice to let them know that we are thinking about them.”
