YOUNGSTERS from two schools were enchanted when a children’s entertainer visited a library for a story-telling session.

Renowned North East actress Eileen Glenton entertained young children by treading to pupils at Blackhall Library in a fairy godmother-style costume.

Pupils from St Joseph’s and Blackhall Colliery primary schools were treated to the readings by the library.

Eileen, from Durham, is a leading lady with the Durham Musical Theatre Company and has appeared frequently on TV and in films.

As well as acting, Eileen is a talented director and ran her own costume hire business.

Carol Close, senior assistant at Blackhall Library, said:” The reading session went really well and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

“Events like this show that we are still going strong. We try to be a leading light in the community and encourage children to visit the library.”
