RACING fans can have a flutter and do a good turn for charity when video horse racing comes to town later this month.
Hartlepool Round Table is hosting a video race night on Saturday, January 28, at the Grand Hotel in Swainson Street,
The event is being organised by the town-based charity champions to raise vital funds for Hartlepool & District Hospice.
The video races are recorded on DVD and screened on the night to give punters all the thrill of being at the course.
But while most of the action will feature traditional horse races, the final race of the night will be amongst humans.
Eight members of the Round Table will set up a human obstacle course in a top-secret location ahead of the event, and race each other around it.
Round Table chairman Graeme Smith said: “Several versions of the race will be filmed before being screened on the night to avoid any suggestion of fixing!”
Tickets for the event are £5, which includes a pie and peas supper and entry into a raffle, and are available from the reception at The Grand.
