A FORMER England cricketer is swapping his bat for a guitar.
After retiring from the sport in 2009, Mark Butcher, 38, has taken to entertaining crowds in a different way, performing in pubs and clubs around the country.
Friend and colleague Matt Taylor will be playing alongside Mark at Easington’s Southside Social Club on June 25.
The venue, located at The Green, has played host to a number of great acts over the years and club manager Paul Purcell is keen to welcome another one to the region.
“To have a gig like this is brilliant for our pub.” he said.
“Obviously Mark is well known for his cricket but he is also a fantastic guitarist and singer.
“We really look forward to having them play on the Saturday afternoon and it will be a great day.”
Tickets are available from behind the bar at the social club in Easington Village.
