A former Hartlepool United star will talk about his playing days to help a children’s charity.

Former Pools and Newcastle Uniter player Joe Allon will be joining former Magpies midfielder Lee Clark for the sportman’s dinner.

The meet and greet will be held at Hedworth Hall, South Shields, to raise cash for South Tyneside charity The Cruse Crew.

The group – made up of families from South Tyneside who have suffered a bereavement – raised £30,000 for Cruse Bereavement Care Tyneside.

Cash brought in over six months has enabled the charity to set up its one-to-one support service for children and young people.

The night will be compered by Joe and will feature stories from the pair’s football past, as well as those they have rubbed shoulders with over the years.

Joe said: “The night is set to be a fantastic event, we will be highlighting stories from both our careers, people we have been in touch with over the years – people can expect a lot of laughs. We’re looking forward to sharing some of our stories and the night is for such a great cause too.”

Tickets for the event on Thursday, October 1, at the Hedworth Hall in Dean Road, South Shields, are on sale now priced £20 and include a meal.
