Ex-Street star to make TV return

FORMER Coronation Street star Bruce Jones is being lined up to make a return to the TV screen in the New Year.

The 59-year-old, who is a regular visitor to Hartlepool where he is represented by town-based media man Paul “Goffy” Gough, has been approached by the production team from Celebrity Big Brother.

Channel 5 will start screening the reality show on January 3 and are reportedly keen to sign up Jones – who played Les Battersby – as well as actress Wendi Peters, who played his on-screen wife Cilla.

Jones told the Mail: “I can’t say too much about it at the moment, but I’ve had a meeting and it’s something I’d be very interested in.

“I know the programme starts in the New Year, so we’ll see what happens over the next couple of weeks.”

Other celebrities reportedly approached to go into the Big Brother house include comic Justin Lee Collins and rock star Meat Loaf.
