A FUNDRAISING drive by fashion students looking to raise cash to showcase their work at a prestigious event got off to an “excellent” start.

Final year fashion enterprise students at Hartlepool’s Cleveland College of Art and Design are trying to raise as much money as possible to help show off their work at the Graduate Fashion Week, in London next year.

And the hardworking students were delighted to raise more than £200 at their own Christmas fair, which took place last week.

The event, at Springs on Hartlepool Marina, featured a variety of stalls of home made food and goods.

“To be honest it went a lot better than we thought it would,” said final year student, Jemma Peacock, 20, who lives in the town centre area of Hartlepool.

“With the weather being so rubbish I didn’t expect it to be too busy but it went really well.

“We didn’t expect to raise as much as that so it’s an excellent start for us.”

The students are now planning many more fundraisers ahead of the prestigious event in the capital, which is taking place next May.
