EXTRA trains are being laid on to ensure Hartlepool United fans don’t miss one of the biggest matches of the season.

Grand Central is aiming to run additional services to York on Saturday, April 11, when football fans will travel to see their team take on York City.

Fans should book their tickets and reserve seats in advance where possible as we do expect these services to be popular.

The team’s weekend 2-1 win over Cambridge United, at Victoria Park, sealed their fourth consecutive win and saw them climb out of the relegation zone for the first time in five months.

On April 11, the normal Grand Central service will stop at Hartlepool and run through to York on its way to London King’s Cross at 7.10am, 8.55am, and 12.45pm.

Additional trains will now also run at 8.35am and 11.32am.

An extra train will return from York at 8.27pm.

A spokesman for Grand Central Rail said: “On Saturday, April 11, Grand Central is running three extra services as we’re expecting busy trains between Hartlepool and York with fans travelling to watch the football.

“In addition to our usual services, there will be two non-stop services from Hartlepool to York at 8.35am and 11.32am and an extra return service which will leave York at 8.27pm.

“Fans should book their tickets and reserve seats in advance where possible as we do expect these services to be popular.

“We encourage fans to behave responsibly and we hope that everyone enjoys the match.”
