Facebook video attack at Summerhill: teenager arrested

A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with a savage attack on a schoolgirl which was filmed on a mobile phone and posted on Facebook.

Scarlett Anderson, 13, was at Summerhill country park in Hartlepool last Saturday night with a group of teenagers when the incident

happened. She was kicked unconscious during the attack before being pulled away and taken home.

The English Martyrs pupil was taken to A&E at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, before being allowed home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Footage of the attack, which was posted onto Facebook on Sunday morning, was seized by police investigating the incident.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Friday, and is currently in custody being quizzed by detectives.

Scarlett’s mum Beverley Castle said she was “disgusted” by the attack on her daughter and urged anyone with information to contact police.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at Summerhill country park, in Hartlepool, on Saturday, September 6.”
