PONY rides, space hopper championships and a puppet show are just some of the fun activities on offer at an event organised by five councillors.
The five Labour councillor on the Hart and De Bruce wards have worked together to set up a family fun day to raise funds for Hartlepool & District Hospice tomorrow.
The fun-filled fundraiser will be held at Hartlepool Rugby Club, in Easington Road. It will get underway with a car boot sale at 10am with the action of the main run fay starting an hour later.
Labour councillors Paul Beck and Jean Robinson of the Hart ward and Rob Cook, Sheila Griffin and Sylvia Tempest of the De Bruce ward have clubbed together to organise the fun day. Hartlepool MP Iain Wright will also be going along to officially open the event.
Chief organiser Coun Beck said: “We would like to see as many families come along and enjoy this event which includes some free activities such as pony rides, space hopper championships, puppet shows, a climbing wall and more.
“There will also be fairground rides, a bouncy castle, cake stalls, tombolas, hot food and refreshments.”
Coun Beck added: “The aim of this event is to bring the community together before the children go back to school.”
Hospice staff will be enjoying the activities along with families who go along and help to raise cash for the cause.
Janice Forbes, community fundraiser at the hospice, said: “This promises to be a great family day out and a lovely way to finish the summer holidays.
“I would like to thank the councillors for choosing the hospice to be the beneficiary of their fun day.”
There’s still chance for people to book a space for the car boot sale. The cost is £6 per car and £8 for a large van. Sellers should be set up by 9.30am. To book a car boot sale space or for more information call Coun Beck on (01429) 283014.
