THE family of a granddad who was tragically killed by a camper van he was working on died “doing what he loved most”.
Dennis Moon was taking the old van off its jacks in a yard in Cromwell Street, Hartlepool, when it moved and crushed him underneath.
Workers at nearby units found the 74-year-old 20 minutes later and tried to resuscitate him before an air ambulance, road paramedics and police arrived.
But despite their best efforts, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead 40 minutes later.
His loving family have now praised the dad-of-twins from the town’s Ormesby Road, who is said to have “refused to grow old and loved life”.
