A VILLAGE was alive with summer fun for its annual fair on the year’s longest day.
Scores of people turned out for the annual Greatham Feast, just as they have for more than 500 years.
Once again villagers competed to find out who could come up with the best fancy dress and decorated bikes.
Families whiled away Saturday on the village green which was full of games, amusements, stalls and refreshments.
Organisers were delighted with the turnout and support from volunteers who helped make the day a big success.
Bev Hutchinson, chairman of Greatham Feast Committee, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic day.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout. The weather was brilliant which helps massively.
“We raised a lot of money and everybody had a smile on their face which was really lovely to see and be part of.”
Attractions on the village green featured balloon modelling, a magic show, a ‘glorious grandmother’ competition and the drawing of the grand draw.
The entertainment continued into the night when local band The Hobbies and other support groups played.
Bev added: “The green was choc-a-bloc, and the barbecue sold out.
“I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who helped to make the day what it was.”
