A DARLINGTON family are regular runners in the Hartlepool Race For Life – but the weather has never once been kind to them.
Pauline Lillystone, 63, and her daughters Caroline Lillystone, 34, and Janet Lillystone, 41, have done the run each year since Pauline battled through breast cancer eight years ago.
Pauline admitted the news that she had cancer was “devastating,” but she added: “What got me through was knowing it was me that had it and not my children.
“I have got three daughters and I was old enough to handle it, rather than them.”
They described the atmosphere in Hartlepool as “fantastic” but Caroline added: “For some reason, it rains in Hartlepool every time we come. It is still a brilliant day, though,”
