Farmer and wife threatened by yobs on quad bikes after confrontation

A farmer and his wife were threatened after they came across trespassers on their land.

On Monday, two men were found riding quad bikes on private land at Carr House Farm in Salters Lane in Hetton, close to the border with County Durham and off the B1285 to Murton.

The farmer and his wife asked the youths to leave the land when one of the youths became abusive and made threats to damage the land, farmhouse and cattle.

Inquiries are on-going to identify the men.

The male who made the threats is described as white, early 20s, around 5ft 10in tall, around 5ft 10in, average build, dark relatively short hair, wearing grey jogging bottoms and a blue jacket with an insignia on the side.

He had a large sovereign ring on his right hand and was on a green off-road quad bike that had Carrs of Billingham written on it.

The second male was white, 6ft 1-2ins tall, slim build, fair hair shaved at the sides and longer on top.

He was wearing a dark Puffa jacket, pale blue hoodie and was also on a green off road quad bike.
