A MAN who became stuck on a fence called firefighters for help while dangling 6ft from the ground.
Fire brigade officers say he had clambered up wire meshing in Casebourne Road, in Hartlepool’s Longhill Industrial Estate, but got his foot caught at the top.
While hanging helplessly, he managed to get his mobile phone out of his pocket and called for help at 1am today.
Firefighters brought him down and handed him over to waiting police officers who wanted to speak to him.
Watch manager Andy Robinson, of Stranton Fire Station, said: “He got his foot caught and was hanging upside down. It must have been about 6ft up.
“He called fire control himself, as fortunately he had a mobile phone in his pocket.
“He was helped down and was handed over to the police.”
