ONE of the highlights in Peterlee’s annual events calendar is just a month away and organisers say there will be a host of fun on offer.
The 41st annual Peterlee Show takes place around the Helford Road playing fields on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
Entertainment starts at noon on the Saturday in the main arena with Pirates Pandemonium, Jez Avery’s stunt show, H&M Dog Display team, a falconry display, as well as cookery demonstrations, and a Spitfire on display.
There will also be music between 5.15pm and 10pm from acts including Central Park and Gangsters of Ska, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.
On the Sunday, highlights include a vintage car display, as well as a brass band competition.
There will also be a dog show, horticultural show, football tournament, fun fair, two-mile fun run and various marquees housing arts, crafts and voluntary groups.
Organisers say there is something for everyone at the show this year.
Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor Ron Curtis, said: “I attend every year and my favourite part is watching other people enjoy themselves.
“This year we have got something for everybody, from little ones right through to adults.
“But every year gets harder – it’s sponsorship we need to make it even bigger.
However, weather permitting, we will still make it a success. Get yourself along, support Peterlee, the event is there for you.”
