Fined over dog fouling

A WOMAN has paid the penalty for failing to clean up after her dog.

Angela Ridgeway, of Tweed Close, Peterlee, admitted failing to clean up after her dog while out in Forth Close, Peterlee, on September 8 last year.

Ridgeway, whose age has not been disclosed, also pleaded guilty to failing to give her name and address to a council warden who approached her at the time of the incident.

The case was heard at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court after Ridgeway pleaded guilty by post to the two offences.

Magistrates imposed a £33 fine for each offence, with £85 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £15.

Dave Riseley, education and enforcement manager at Durham County Council, said: “We will pursue those who refuse to provide their details and work with other agencies to ensure offenders can’t simply walk away.”
