A FIRE service looks set to move headquarters after receiving a government grant.
Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is set to receive £1.8m which will be used on improved technology in new its headquarters.
Fire chiefs are now set to make the switch to the proposed regional control centre, in Belmont Business Park, in Durham City.
It is not clear how quickly the service will make the switch, but the centre is expected to help deliver significant improvements to the handling of emergency 999 calls and speed up response times.
The service’s current base is in Framwellgate Moor, in Durham City.
