THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to a fun-packed firework and music spectacular this weekend.
Harry Potter is the theme of this year’s show and the dazzling display on Saturday, November 5, will be set to music from the blockbuster films.
Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council and sponsored by Niramax Total Waste Solutions, the free event takes place on The Front at Seaton Carew.
The fun starts at 4pm with a children’s funfair and stalls near the paddling pool.
There will be live songs and music near the Clock Tower from local talent organised by youth charity Red Dreams.
The fireworks start at 6.30pm.
Katie Hammond, the council’s cultural events officer, said: “Come and join us for a great free family night out with a terrific atmosphere.”
She added: “We’d like to remind people not to try setting off their own fireworks on the beach - it isn’t safe to do so.
“For that reason there will be no public access to the beach south of the Station Lane slipway during the event.
“People should also remember that sea defence work is taking place on part of the prom and should take extra care in that vicinity.”
The Front at Seaton Carew will be closed to traffic from the junction with Elizabeth Way to the junction with Station Lane from 6.15pm to 7pm.
The Seaton coach park will not be open to vehicles at all during the day of the event.
To help reduce traffic congestion, special council-run shuttle buses will be in operation.
For more information call (01429) 869706.
They will run from the bus stop in Marina Way in front of Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience between 5pm and 6.15pm, with buses returning from Seaton Carew between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Return fares will be £1 for adults, 50p for children or £2.50 for a family ticket.
