Firm is set for growth

AN electronics company with a base in Hartlepool has enjoyed a surge in turnover and looks set for more growth in 2011.

The Stadium Group is on the lookout to take over businesses in the same sector as itself after selling off the last remnants of its plastics division to concentrate on electronics.

The group has its headquarters in Brenda Road, Hartlepool. It makes electronic parts such as circuit boards for major companies in industry, electronics and power.

Chief executive Nigel Rogers, said: "The board remains confident of the prospects for continued organic growth from these operations, both in the UK and Asia."

He said it would "seek to make further acquisitions of complementary businesses in the sector if suitable opportunities present themselves."

The announcement comes after the group's trading results for the second half of 2010 were revealed. They show Stadium's strong trading performance from earlier in the year had continued, consistent with the directors' expectations.

Turnover has gone up by around 25 per cent compared to a year earlier.

Stadium Electronics is now concentrating in Hartlepool on contracts such as the one with the Highways Agency to make digital signs and the manufacture of 30,000 water meters for Manchester firm Universal Metering.

The firm employs 100 staff at the Hartlepool site.

Its full-year results for the 12 months to the end of December will be published on Wednesday, March 9.
