YOUNGSTERS across Hartlepool will be able to carry on their football practice after the end of the season in a local authority coaching scheme.
After the success of a recent six-week coaching course, Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and physical activity team have extended weekly football coaching sessions for youngsters as young as two at Brierton Sports Centre, in Brierton Lane.
The sessions take place on Mondays between 5pm-6pm for five-eight year-olds, and on Saturday mornings between 9am-10pm for children aged two-five.
Liam Lewis, the council’s assistant sport and physical activity officer, said: “Football camps and footie tots sessions took place during the half term holidays and they proved to be very popular.
“To build on that success, children will be given the opportunity to take part in coaching sessions on a weekly basis to support their development further and have lots of fun in the process.
“It’s great to see children so young participating in football under the watchful eye of our qualified and experienced coaching team.”
The cost of each session ranges from £2.20 to £2.75. For more information, contact Brierton Sport Centre on (01429) 287606.
